Since the beginning, HALO has been built on the hard work of volunteers and interns that dedicate so much of their time toward providing the foundation of a family for HALO Youth in Kansas City and Jefferson City. Our volunteers of the month for April are no different!

Janna Ferdous started as the Kansas City Program Coordinator Intern in September 2022 and continues to use her skills to serve HALO's youth in various ways. Janna has created healing-focused art lessons and new lessons for teaching our kids valuable life skills such as Self Discipline, Accountability, and Time Management. She's assisted behind the scenes with HALO's programs in Kenya and Uganda. She has instructed multiple programs such as tutoring, Professional Development, Art & Life Skills, and Creative Writing classes. She has also assisted with major HALO events, such as our Inspiration Breakfast and the Kansas City Art Auction.
Janna has played an instrumental role in facilitating 124 programs, classes, and special events since she started with us in September. Whenever needed, Janna has jumped in with a great attitude to help us better serve our youth, whether that involved helping a youth polish their resume, creating a list of housing options for a young adult working toward independence, or helping a middle school kid raise their grades. Her kind heart and ability to empower youth to do their best has positively impacted so many HALO kiddos, and we are incredibly thankful for the time she has dedicated to them.
