August Volunteers of the Month

Here at HALO, we always appreciate the love and support shown by our volunteers and staff. Their dedication is what helps HALO grow and thrive. Every month, we get the honor of choosing volunteers of the month.

Our August 2020 volunteer of the month is Chelsea Medlock at the KC HALO location.

She has been leading yoga with the kids at Salvation Army, and she makes it so fun for them.

One week, she renamed all the poses so that they were named for superheroes: we had a Thor pose, Spiderman, Superman, Hulk, and so many more, which was awesome because it made yoga something more relatable and “on their level,” while also ensuring they were getting the benefits of exercising and mindful breathing. She even asked the kids who their favorite superheroes were and came up with custom poses on the spot so the kids could feel like their heroes for a minute.

She always begins and ends with a little dance party, and her energy along with her TIC mindset makes this such a fun way for kids to learn more about yoga and be active for part of their day.

Thank you for your hard work, Chelsea!

Our Jefferson City Volunteer of the Month is Solid Rock Church.

In order to serve 1,400 children each year, it is essential that we have the support of volunteers.

Our volunteers help with everything from working directly with the kids to helping us move all our new furniture from the loading dock inside the building. We truly couldn’t help one more child spend one less day alone without everyone’s support.

Thank you, Solid Rock Church!
