We believe that art tells the truth. One way that HALO spreads truth through art is with Bloom, a traveling poetry display that shines a powerful light on homelessness and life for at-risk youth. These poems showcase the resilience and strength that it takes for our kids to bloom into the person they want to become. These poems tell their truth.
Artistic expression provides HALO kids with a safe place to purge painful memories and share their stories, so they can start their healing process without having to say a word. When organizations decide to partner with HALO to display Bloom, it allows people in the community to read the work done by our kids. This gives HALO kids a chance to be heard and to heal, as they are often so proud to see their work displayed in a public setting. This display also gives HALO the chance to share our mission in the community, advocating the importance of providing every child with the foundation of a family.
Organizations that are interested in hosting the Bloom poetry display can contact Chelsea Tapken at [email protected]. Bloom is displayed within your organization for one month and includes a lunch & learn where staff from HALO educate your team on youth homelessness and share ways to get involved at HALO.
