Former HALO Child Returns to Teach HALO Youth Professional Development

Tiana first came to the HALO Learning Center three years ago, where her hard work was rewarded with a scholarship provided by one of HALO’s partners. After beginning college in the fall, she returned to HALO- but this time as volunteer and workshop facilitator, teaching HALO youth professional development. Tiana, along with her classmates from The University of Central Missouri, mentored the youth on interviewing and dressing professionally. In addition, they worked on developing an elevator pitch. Tiana not only facilitated this workshop with her classmates, but she excelled in doing so. Her natural leadership skills and confidence encouraged everyone to participate. The ultimate desired outcome for youth who attend the workshops at the Learning Center is that they thrive independently and give back to their community, like Tiana has done and continues to do. Thank you, Tiana and UCM’s Management of Organizations class, for teaching HALO youth these valuable lessons!
