14 Kansas City HALO Youth Graduate to a Brighter Future

  • HALO has children graduating all over the world. This month, we are highlighting our Kansas City youth.

HALO believes every child deserves the foundation of a family. Part of being that foundation is celebrating important accomplishments alongside our youth. Last Wednesday night, our partner Fairfax Learning Center held their High School graduation ceremony. Of the 38 children who graduated from Fairfax Learning Center, 14 were HALO youth.

HALO has been partnering with Fairfax Learning Center since 2016. For students at this alternative high school in Kansas City, Kansas, coming to HALO’s Learning Center to do an art project twice a month is much more than just earning half a credit toward graduation. Every single month, on the same days and at the same times, the students know they can count on HALO. And in many at-risk children’s lives, structure and consistency is hard to come by. “For our students, there’s a lot of things that have happened in their life that has caused them to not be successful in regular high school, and art is a great way for them to express their emotions,” said Craig Willemsen, lead counselor at Fairfax.

Congratulations! We are all so proud of you.
