Basketball brings people together. That core principle is what makes the HALO Heat so special, uniting youth from all different backgrounds under one common objective.
What started in 2021 as a simple HALO-sponsored tournament has grown into something much larger. Still today, HALO brings together players from different high schools to compete, bond, and grow through their love of basketball. The HALO Heat team continues to be a powerful way to raise awareness about supporting vulnerable youth through a game we all know and love.
In years past, HALO Heat persevered and earned 2nd place in the LINC tournament. However this year, HALO Heat broke through and won the tournament by pushing through major battles and displaying incredible teamwork. It was no easy accomplishment. In the third quarter of the semifinal game, the team found themselves trailing significantly, but they came back to win in the final minutes and ultimately, win the championship game. The players practiced perseverance, teamwork, and hard work throughout the tournament. Congrats HALO Heat on a well-deserved win!
The HALO Heat is just one small part of HALO’s Jefferson City program, which provides care and housing for youth in Central Missouri. For youth experiencing homelessness, HALO represents far more than food and shelter. It represents the day their entire life changed.
