HALO Honors November Volunteers of the Month

HALO would not be the same without the efforts of every single volunteer that serves the organization. Each month, we have the pleasure of choosing volunteers to recognize as our Volunteers of the Month. Read a bit about each one of them below!

Kansas City

Nathan Davis & Gaige Barrett:

Nathan and Gaige have a calm and encouraging energy that the kids really respond to. They both participate in the workshop along with the kids, and share their work each time -- this requires creatively producing written, personal pieces that fit with each lesson, then sharing that work with the group. This is really great for the kids, especially those who are new to HALO, because it shows them that HALO is a safe place where they can express themselves creatively without judgement. Having such engaged volunteers in the room helps keep the kids engaged, which facilitates further discussion, learning, participation, and sharing.

Jefferson City

Cathy Schafer:

Cathy  started volunteering as soon as her paperwork was finished and processed. Cathy has helped the staff with transportation tremendously and has made connections with our residents. She has also spent hours in the home organizing our HALO food pantry and getting to know the staff.
