July Volunteers of the Month

Our Kansas City volunteer of the month is a Kansas City local fashion designer, Whitney Manney! She has been teaching sewing classes to HALO youth in the Kansas City Learning Center this Summer. Whitney has volunteered with HALO for seven years and throughout that time has served in so many ways from the giving of her time to donating her own art for auctions. HALO is honored by her service to our community and thankful for the ways she continues to give and help others.

The theme for this Summer has been, “Building Each Other Up”. In keeping with the idea of community and encouragement, youth worked on a textile mural. Whitney will complete the project as a collaboration with HALO youth. Students were also able to use creative and artistic expression as they made pillows, headwraps, tube tops and durags.

Our Jefferson City volunteer of the month is Refuge Youth Group from the First Baptist Church! These volunteers went above and beyond by completing over 30 essential tasks that will keep the Jefferson City homes running smoothly. Thank you for your cleaning, fixing and remodeling. We could not operate without the support of our amazing volunteers. Thank you so much for all your support!
