At HALO, our strong volunteer team helps us bring extra joy into the lives of our youth. Thank you to our June Volunteers of the Month, who have particularly addressed these needs by hosting events to celebrate and provide creative outlets for our youth. You put smiles on their faces and heal them with love!
Our Kansas City Volunteer of the Month is Lori Lewellen. As a member of the Advocate Board, Lori consistently goes above and beyond in her volunteer role. This graduation season, she helped host a graduation party to celebrate several residents of our Kansas City Girls Home on their recent high school completion. She prepared the food, drinks, and decorations, even ensuring that there were balloons in the school colors of each graduate. Lori knows that these youth have defied the odds and wants to show them that she cares. Thank you to Lori and the Advocate Board for all the hard work you do, including hosting this wonderful celebration!
This month, we want to express our gratitude to Sk8 Zone in Jefferson City for volunteering their time and space to support our HALO youth. We reached out and let them know how much our HALO youth love visiting Sk8 Zone, and they wanted to join HALO in offering great opportunities for HALO kids to have fun. Thanks to Sk8 Zone, HALO kids are able to enjoy skating for free once a month. They love the chance to just be a kid. We are so grateful for partnership like these!
