"HALO is not just a program, it’s the foundation of a family. We don’t cut off relationships with our kids because of their age and State funding stops. HALO kids sit around the dinner table with us on Sundays, and learn to love like a family should. Because THAT is how you break the cycle."
On February 24th, over 300 attendees gathered, back in person, at Hotel KC for the 2023 HALO Art Auction! As the doors opened, the venue was filled with excitement for an inspiring night ahead. Guests, near and far, were able to bid on their favorite packages, from autographed Chiefs memorabilia to beautiful framed art pieces. With the support of local businesses, HALO supporters, and talented artists, we had over 100 silent auction packages and a spectacular live auction!
After guests mingled and perused the silent auction and raffle items, the program was ready to begin. Honorary Co-Chairs Bill & Missy Love and Trey & Rebecca Bowen shared why they have been longtime supporters of HALO. Missy Love said it best;
"The work at HALO is truly groundbreaking."
One of the highlights for many guests was hearing HALO youth Ziere's story of resilience. Ziere is a part of the Jefferson City HALO Boys Program and was awarded by HALO Founder Rebecca Welsh the HALO Star of the Year Award! Welsh said,
"Ziere's story of resilience reminds us what this life is about. It reminds us that no matter what is going on in our lives, our outlook is a choice."
To celebrate raising over $350,000 (and still counting), the night closed out with music from Lost Wax for in-person guests!

Not only were we able to come together in person to support HALO youth, but there was a virtual component for HALO supporters all over the world! Guests tuned in from New York, Florida, Texas, and other locations to experience the event. This included viewing the program, bidding alongside in-person guests on auction packages, and watching the after party hosted by Sophie Grace, 16-year-old Emmy Award®-winning star of The Baby-Sitters Club ("Kristy Thomas"). Special video guests were Oprah Winfrey, Nigel, Christen, Jasmine & Jack Barker, Mishay Petronelli, Chef Lisa Dahl, Tamara Day, Chef Che Spiotta, and Pedro Saint Morillo. Special musical performances were from Tigirlily Gold, Chapel Hart, and Caitlyn Smith.
