Supporting Youth in Portland and Orphans in Uganda
HALO Portland began in 2009 with a goal to raise the annual funds for the HALO Bukesa Children’s Home in Kampala, Uganda. In addition, HALO Portland partners with local non-profits to empower youth in need by providing character-building art workshops, which allows children from impoverished backgrounds to express themselves and develop goals for their lives.
The Art of Love Auction features artwork and stories from kids in the Bukesa Children’s Home, as well as our local art therapy programs. Portland artists partner with us in our work and/or donate their work for purchase. It’s a night where community development, art, and local business all combine to make an impact on the lives of children in need. Get your tickets here.
For kids who have lost their families or have been growing up on the streets, school is the single most important factor in providing them opportunities to be successful in their lives. We are seeking 30 families who each take 1 day of the month to provide the school needs for the kids living in the Bukesa Children’s Home. To take one of the days in the home, click here and choose the “1 for 30” option.
To donate to the projects of the Portland branch, visit the donate and enter “Bukesa Home” in the box labeled “in tribute to,” or mail a check the HALO Headquarters and write “Bukesa Home” in the memo of the check.
