Time Management- April Workshop

Did you know the following statistics?

  • "On average, American adults are watching five hours and four minutes of television per day. " -New York Times
  • "Over the course of an eight-hour workday, the average employee works for about three hours — two hours and 53 minutes, to be more precise." -Forbes

For most Americans, instant access to entertainment and social media is just a click a way. That's why it's vital that we teach not only ourselves, but our HALO kids the importance of time management. Throughout the course of this month, we've focused our Learning Center Workshops, on this very important life skill.

Most people struggle with time management. The good news it that we all have the power to work on our habits, and even create new ones! The lessons taught in our workshop are simple, but important. Instilling life skills in our kids, that aren't always taught at home. Keep reading to learn more about the projects we did!

In this particular workshop, we illustrated the importance of taking little steps to work towards something bigger. Each popsicle stick was decorated in various colors, patterns, and materials. Each beautiful in it's own way, and an accomplishment. At the end, we took all of the popsicle sticks, and carefully glued them side by side to create a mural.

This art project taught our kids the importance of working together - or in terms of time management, delegating tasks to others when it makes sense.

They also learned that to accomplish something, whether it be a dream, or just having a more productive day, you have to manage your time and the steps it takes to reach that goal.

In the second project, our HALO kids made "Time Management Monsters," which represented the barriers that can get in the way of managing our time. Something visual that they can easily remember. One of the boys was so excited about his creation that he made a little book out of his project!
