Volunteering Together as a Family

HALO started because a small class of young kids came to a stark realization: "If there are homeless kids who need our help, we should do whatever we can to help them."

Since the beginning of HALO, compassionate kids and teens have been the driving force towards a part of the solution to ending childhood homelessness. This continued in April with ClubHALO's "Bring Your Family" Service Night at our HALO branches in Kansas City and Jefferson City, Missouri.

Families volunteered together to support HALO youth worldwide in various ways. Kids of all ages worked on volunteer projects that would have a direct impact on a child's life, from a friendship bracelet to unique Mad Lib stories.

Together, they made four friendship bracelets that will be included in welcome baskets for future HALO Home residents. They also crafted 15 handmade cards and posters that will help decorate HALO Home bedrooms when kids first move in. Finally, they created seven activity projects that HALO youth can do while in the Learning Center to help them destress and have a safe place to express themselves.

Everyone from preschool students to retired grandparents had a fun night working together to change lives. Thank you to everyone who attended and showed the world how powerful young people are!
