HALO started back in 2005 from a group of compassionate kids who heard about people their own age who were facing homelessness. They immediately went into action to use their skills to raise money and more importantly, make a lasting impact on communities around the world for years to come. That's why, at HALO, we know how powerful young people are.
One group of world changers at Corinth Elementary School said "yes" to helping HALO kids just like the group of children in the early 2000's did. The Youth in Action group, filled with 5th and 6th grade students and their guardians, spent a morning at HALO, learning about the organization, the youth we serve, and how they can make a difference in lives of children their own age.
They donated snacks and made heartfelt cards to package over 40 care packs that any youth that comes to the HALO Learning Center can grab and go, no questions asked. This reliable source of food and love allows HALO youth to be able to focus on important life skill programming, academic studies, and other priorities with their basic needs being met. The volunteer group also helped clean the Learning Center and Headquarters, making the space feel clean for the 700+ kids and teens that HALO supports every year.
