HALO experienced a beautiful moment this week, fueling our motivation in all that we do in our day-to-day work:
Noah came to HALO two years ago with reStart’s Youth Emergency Shelter. He was a quiet and nervous youth. Everyone loved Noah from the start because he’s so easy to love – smart, funny, sweet, polite. He left reStart to go to JobCorps, but he always kept in touch with HALO. He messaged the team to check in, tell us how he was doing in his classes, how close he was to graduating, and asking us how we were doing.
Earlier this week, he messaged HALO and asked if he could come to programming and attend his old usual night for the art workshop. He walked in to a lot of shrieks and hugs from HALO Center Facilitator Aubony Chalfant and volunteer Travis.
Noah, who used to be so shy to speak, talked their ears off. He has a HVAC maintenance job with a regular income, has his own apartment, and just got a car. But of course he still wanted to know how the HALO staff was doing. Everyone was so impressed with his manners.
Two years ago, Noah was homeless and completely alone. He managed to work through JobCorps, which is not an easy task, and stayed focused on completing his training. And he’s doing amazingly well.

A lot of happy tears were cried this week at HALO.
