KC Housing Girls Learn Woodworking

Kansas City Volunteer Julie Arnold, owner of Place, developed a program to teach woodworking to our Kansas City housing girls- Frankie and Madison.  They will be learning the entire process of creating, and selling, a collection of reclaimed wood serving trays designed by Julie.

Their experience started with a tour led by Tim, owner of Urban Lumber Co, This is where Julie sourced a variety of reclaimed wood for the trays. Tim explained the different types of wood and the ways to transform it through stain.  Frankie and Madison learned how to use a variety of tools, including the drill press, hand sander, and electric sander.

The finished products will be for sale at the Art Auction, where the girls will have their own booth set up. You are not going to want to miss out on these!
